2022 - Studio Project - Affordable housing -
Canadian affordable housing is an issue of the zoning, complex societal stresses, and government systems. Although not specifically specified, architecture plays a pivotal role in the quest for affordable housing.
Affordable housing oftentimes is categorized only as a lower standard of living, cheaply built architecture, with small spaces and no amenities.
Whereas the previous consensus forces the people who need the most amount of help away from their potential societal and cultural roles they might play in the community.

The diversification of the units and functions provide ample and unique opportunities for the residents.
Within the confines of the small lot, series of multigenerational housing, family oriented Co-housing, and shop housing situations are located.
Each individual lot is designed with the intent of people, and curation of the personal connections between the residents.

The enclosed corridor has a relative factor of interconnectivity. The Layout is designed as to maximize community relations between the residents.
In between spaces used traditionally for simple circulation, is now shown a new light. More intention in these connected spaces creates new opportunity for meeting.

As immigrant families and refugees come from cultures where bigger families are beneficial ,they’re left without option for housing not just because of the affordability but also because of the size of affordable units.
Intended for an expandable unit for families with a diverse range of situations, with in laws, multiple children, and fluctuating living situataions.
The unit changes in size affect access, and availability by altering a single part of a wall.

The buildings interact through the fluctuations between the spaces. Depending on the credibility of space, opportunities for communal gardening, events, and indirect meetings are set to happen.
